Vintage Cheyenne Arapaho Beaded Moccasins with Medicine Wheel / Sun Cross / Four Directions Ceremonial Design in Red, White and Blue, Native American Plains Indian Deerskin Suede Leather Moccasin, Circa 19th to Early Century. Some of the foundational seams may be sinew-sewn, others appear to be natural fibers - Please view all photos, including close ups, and let these be your best guide. DESIGN: The central design, an asymmetrical cross inside a a circular border is a Sun Cross or Medicine Wheel representing the circle of life and the four directions, each holding spiritual and cultural significance among Plains Native American people.

The four directions may signify seasons, virtues, or the elements of nature. For example, east may represent sunrise and awakening, while west may represent sunset with and reflection, each direction forming a structure for understanding the interconnectedness of life and nature. CONDITION: Good overall with some wear from use.

Soft leather sloughs a bit when handled. There is a small rip in the outer left seam of the right shoe and a couple areas of loose or missing beads. There are a few yellow spots which may be glue. Still a very beautiful and classic design with flaws mostly noticeable in close-up view.
