


She was a widow and told us her husband had been a salesman and often traveled the Western states. He always brought home souvenirs - Native American jewelry and baskets.
When we moved, she gifted me this basket and another one from her collection. At that time, she was in her 70's and she had lost her husband early in their marriage. The basket is very well made, tightly woven.
I view it as a work of art. If you display it on a stand, the distinctive star pattern stands out.
I could not remember what tribe she told me it was from but I have seen similar work by the Hopi and the Papago. If any kind ebayer knows differently, please let me know.
