29x3 Replica Native American Catlinite Sioux Pipe with Puzzle Pipestem by Pete Winders. I made this pipe and pipestem about 20 years ago.
The bowl is Catlinite from Minnesota. The stem is basswood, with pigments I basically made up from various minerals.
The pipe is classic Sioux design. The stem is an amalgum of various museum specimens I studied before starting. I have been working on American Indian crafts, replicating those I could not find or afford, for more than 70 years, as American Indian physical culture has fascinated me since boyhood. BE CAREFUL - CATLINITE WILL BREAK WHEN DROPPED, AND THE STEM/PIPE ARE CONNECTED ON THESE THINGS ONLY BY FRICTION. HOLD BOTH STEM AND PIPE WHEN USING.
