The Tennessee Melungeon Gord Shaker Rattle is a collectible musical instrument that represents the rich heritage of Native American/Melungeon/Pasqua/Pasqaq culture in the SE United States. With its origins in Appalachia, this rattle is perfect for anyone looking to own a piece of history and tradition.
It comes with a Certificate of Authenticity, and it can involve removeable, interchangeable, wearable feathers in some gord rattles. Art on rattles is my own and various rattles may resemble artwork on other rattles, although, it is customized for your energetic, physical, spiritual being & journey in life/beyond. This is a for-real, serious item by an artist who is tri-racial Melungeon, Pasqaq/Pasqua, and who does have supernatural experiences/perceptions possibly due to having suffered a brain injury and/or from having Shaman/Medicine Persons in past lineage.
Colors, stains, media used on rattles varies and can be requested/customized too. Gords are drilled open, cleaned out with sometimes moldy particulates, seeds, and a Sacred mix of elements is carefully inserted prayerfully while checking the tonality/sounds along the way both hole-open and closed by Artist who is a violinist/folk harpist as well as pow-wow Drum/singing performer. Feathers are optional and do not attach to some gords though they can be tied up in the handle of spoon gords if someone feels slighted by not having a feather.
